Eight Raintree volunteers made the extra effort to get up early Saturday (August 13th<\/sup>) morning to complete the first of three steps to control the erosion on the southeast slope of our property.\u00a0 The photos below show the steps taken to complete this portion:\u00a0 staking the area, laying the Terra Tubes, staking the tubes; caution taping the area.\u00a0 It took about 2 \u00bd hours to get this done.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Terra Tube Installation for Erosion Control.\u00a0 Terra Tubes are a cost effective, storm water treatment product designed to trap, filter and treat sediment-laden runoff while reducing the force of run-off during heavy rains.\u00a0 Our slope has eroded as much as a foot recently.\u00a0 Terra Tubes are composites of wood fibers, crimped man-made fibers and performance enhancing polymers encased in a heavy duty, knitted cylindrical tube.\u00a0 Our volunteers staked 195 feet of the tubes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The next step, later in the fall when it is cooler, is to plant native plants along the upper ridges (\u201cabove\u201d the Terra Tubes).\u00a0 Doing this will further stabilize the slope and \u201chide\u201d the tubes.\u00a0 It may not look very nice now, but lower Wheatwheel residents will appreciate the reduced flooding.\u00a0 Read more at:\u00a0 http:\/\/raintreehoa.info\/hoa<\/a><\/p>\n

Pet owners<\/span>:\u00a0 Please do not let your pets inside the taped areas.\u00a0 The areas need to be left undisturbed<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Sinkhole Caution:<\/strong>\u00a0 Anyone walking on the slope between the parking lot and our townhouses should take care.\u00a0 Several more sinkholes have been staked and caution taped.\u00a0 Others will also be marked as they are found.\u00a0 Let the board know when you find a new one, at:\u00a0 http:\/\/raintreehoa.info\/hoa<\/a><\/p>\n

Most of the volunteers also finished mulching the stormwater runoff plots.\u00a0 Work on the plot at the corner of the upper parking lot has been delayed.\u00a0 The soil is too compacted and will have to be tilled.\u00a0 Look for updates at:\u00a0 http:\/\/raintreehoa.info\/hoa<\/a><\/p>\n
